PSCC-4

Charles Eames, Ray Eames

1962

As the Side Chairs gained popularity in offices where people sat for long periods, the Eames Office responded to the need by adding “All Day Seating” comfort padding to their Side Shells. In classic Eames style, the straightforward solution was to use the existing shell design with the addition of thicker upholstered padding to the seat and back. PSCC-4 stands for Pivoting Side (chair) Cast aluminum (base) with Castors -4 (this type of upholstery).

A paper manufacturer’s label, “Herman Miller Furniture Company Zeeland, Michigan”, is on the underside of the shell.
