Charles Eames, Ray Eames

1968

After the success of the stacking Side Chairs used in schools and auditoriums, Ray and Charles were asked to develop public seating for areas such as waiting rooms and airport lounges. They designed two types of Tandem Seating, including this example. The heavy-duty, yet elegant design withstood the rigors of repeated use and deterred theft from public spaces, while remaining flexible enough to be produced in any number of color combinations and configurations.

Signed with a molded manufacturer’s mark “Herman Miller' on the underside of each shell.
