All levels, benefits, and prices are subject to change. Memberships auto-renew annually unless cancelled. A portion of your membership is tax-deductible after the value of any goods or services is deducted. Frequently Asked Questions

How long does membership last, and will it renew automatically?

Memberships are valid for one year from the date of joining and will automatically renew each year following a reminder email unless cancelled. To cancel your membership, email Membership anytime before your renewal date.

Can I give a membership as a gift?

Absolutely. When you purchase a gift membership, your payment method will be charged once for an annual membership which will be assigned to the gift recipient you specify at checkout. The gift membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase and does not auto-renew. Upon purchase, you will receive a thank you email and a receipt. The recipient will receive a welcome email notifying them of their gift.

When will I receive my membership card or confirmation?

You’ll receive a receipt email and a separate confirmation email immediately after completing your membership enrollment. Your name and email will be used for all future membership activities. A physical membership card is not required for the first year of membership.

Is my membership or donation tax deductible?

All donations are 100% tax deductible.

The tax-deductible portion of membership payments is limited to the amount paid by the member minus the fair market value of the benefits received. For more information regarding the fair market value of each membership tier, please email Membership.

How can I get a receipt for my tax-deductible membership gift?

Your confirmation email serves as your official receipt and includes information regarding tax deductibility. It is sent automatically when you complete your membership enrollment.

Can I change or cancel my recurring membership or donation?

You may cancel a recurring donation at any time before your next billing date to avoid future charges.

Members can request a change to their membership tier by emailing Membership. You may cancel your membership at any time prior to the auto-renewal date by emailing Membership.

How do I manage my membership?

To manage your membership, please contact our Membership team. We’ll be happy to help you update your information, change your membership level, or make any other adjustments.

What payment methods do you accept?

Membership payments may be made via all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH (US-based members only).

Donation payments are graciously accepted in all regions via all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, and Link. Depending upon your region, you may be able to donate directly from your bank account using ACH, SEPA, or other direct debit services. Payment methods that are available in your region will appear automatically during donation checkout.

As a member, can I bring a guest to a members-only event?

Some events will be listed as members-only and others may be open for invited guests. Each invitation will include details about whether guests are welcome and any related guidelines.

What is the difference between a membership and a donation?

Membership offers specific experiences and benefits designed to broaden and nurture our community of curious problem-solvers. Donations provide vital support for our archives, programs, and learning initiatives, helping us bring creativity and curiosity to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Am I eligible for membership if I am not a resident of the USA?

We welcome members from all over the world but cannot accommodate shipping to non-US addresses at this time. If you become a member or purchase a gift membership and specify a shipping address outside of the USA, you do so with the understanding that you or the gift recipient will not receive any shipped benefits that may be associated with the chosen membership tier.
