ET151 Segmented Base Table

This conference table, with a “gently contoured oval top” (per Herman Miller’s 1964 catalog) and four-legged base, is a relatively straightforward example of the hugely successful Segmented Base Table line that has remained in continuous production since its introduction in 1964. The ongoing success of the Segmented Base tables lies in its sturdy, accommodating design and almost endless configurability. Unlike earlier Eames tables, with the segmented base each element, including the feet, columns, cross braces, and spiders, was designed to be combined in a system (or “continuous web of supporting arms”) that could expand in length and width to support tables of just about any size or shape.
