Child’s Stool

This stackable child’s stool was included in MoMA’s 1946 exhibition New Furniture Designed by Charles Eames. Despite the exposure, Herman Miller declined to distribute the small furniture due to the uncertainty of the children’s market. The Eames Office and a few select retailers, including personal friend, Alexander Girard, were the sole purveyors. Girard later included the stool in An Exhibition for Modern Living at the Detroit Institute of Arts in 1949. The stool was in UCLA’s 1976 exhibition Connections: The Work of Charles and Ray Eames.
