Airplane Stabilizer

Charles Eames, Ray Eames

1943

In addition to splints, Ray and Charles developed prototype airplane parts for the US Navy. Using the Eames Process, they molded and laminated plywood into aerodynamic forms for planes. These oversized parts prompted Ray and Charles to build a larger Kazam! machine—a device used for molding plywood into compound curves.
